For an independent home, a structure usually covers one to a few vehicles near the driveway, with columns placed to avoid blocking the gate swing. Society parking often covers a larger, irregular area across multiple rows, planned around existing internal roads and fire-access requirements. Office and commercial parking is planned around staff/visitor vehicle counts and how the structure reads from the road.
Every parking structure is designed to the dimensions of the actual parking area — length, width, column-free spans and clearance height for the vehicles using it. There is no fixed size; the covered area required and the number of columns the site can accommodate both shape the final design.
Membrane is typically PVC-coated or PVDF-coated tensile fabric; frame is mild-steel or structural steel depending on span, connected with stainless-steel cables. The structure is shaped and sloped to direct rainwater away from parked vehicles toward a planned discharge point, worked out during the site visit.
